What is PB&Jeans?

What is PB&Jeans?

Why does this website exist? Good question.

Peanut Butter & Jeans is a place to explore and discuss menswear, EDC and more. A place for people who are interested in workwear- and military-inspired clothing, utilitarian items. It is written for those who subscribe to the idea of “less but better”. A source of new brands and products, a location to discover the history of items you might already own and somewhere to share your thoughts about what it means to buy and own intentionally.

What PB&J is not …

PB&Jeans stands in opposition to fast fashion and low quality products. We believe that businesses making cheap and disposable stuff are evil. They are responsible for huge amounts of waste and are adding to the financial woes of people least able to spend endlessly on crap they don’t need and that won’t last.

PB&Jeans is also not about fashion as defined by changing looks that come and go on an almost montly basis. While this is not limited to cheap, fast fashion, anything that encourages enormous amounts of waste and unnecessary consumption is the antithesis of what this website is about. In the PB&Jeans world, personal style is something that evolves but does not leap around from one trend to another according to the whims of fashion brand CEOs and magazine editors. Our philosophy is based on building a wardrobe that is timeless, durable and high quality; on owning products that stand the test of time and in many cases last a lifetime; on repairing rather than replacing (and in many cases enjoying a product or item of clothing more as it ages – the Japanese concept of wabi sabi).

What you can expect here

The articles on this site will fall into a few different categories:

  • Categories – looking at topics like selvedge denim, mechanical watches, coffee making equipment, pens, boots, sneakers … anything that adds to a well-considered life.
  • Brands – explorations of brands that create products that can are high quality in every sense.
  • Individual items – a deep-dive into a specific item. That could be a pair of jeans, a coffee maker, a pocket knife, a pen or even just a pair of socks.
  • Anything else related to items that can fit into a considered wardrobe, EDC or home – for example where second hand or vintage items come into their own or how items can be repaired in a way that adds to their value.

The idea is to explore what makes a certain type of product worth investing in, why a specific item ticks all the boxes or what a brand is doing that means it is worth considering when buying an item.

And as much as possible, this will be a platform for people to share their thoughts and add their knowledge and opinions.

So if you are part of PB&J, you are welcome.
